They can be found in the machinery that processes our food, the packaging that carries our food, and the equipment we use to store, cook and eat our food.

On July 12, 2023, the European Union (EU) issued Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/1442 to amend the Union List and Group restriction of substances falling under Annex I to Regulation (EU) 10/2011 on food contact plastics (Food Contact Plastics Regulation, consolidated version to September 2020).
The European Union (EU) has recently revised Regulation (EU) 10/2011 on food contact plastics. This regulation sets out the requirements for the use of plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.

The revision of this regulation aims to ensure a high level of protection for consumers and to harmonize the rules across the EU member states. The updated regulation takes into account scientific developments and technological advancements since its previous version.

One of the key changes in the revised regulation is the introduction of a specific migration limit for bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical commonly used in plastic food contact materials. The migration limit for BPA has been set at 0.05 mg/kg of food, which is considered a safe level for consumers.

The revised regulation also includes provisions for the use of recycled plastic materials in food contact applications. It sets out specific requirements for the recycling processes and the quality of the recycled materials to ensure their safety for food contact.

Furthermore, the updated regulation introduces new rules on the use of nanomaterials in food contact plastics. Nanomaterials are tiny particles with unique properties that can be used to enhance the performance of plastic materials. The revised regulation requires manufacturers to provide information on the presence and characteristics of nanomaterials used in their products.

Overall, the revision of Regulation (EU) 10/2011 on food contact plastics aims to enhance consumer protection and ensure the safety of plastic materials and articles intended for contact with food. The updated regulation provides clear and harmonized rules for manufacturers, importers, and distributors across the EU, promoting a high level of food safety throughout the supply chain.Tower FanPCB, Tower FanAir conditioning fan
