EU - A Harmonized Standard Published Under the Single-use Plastic Directive
The reference to harmonized standard `EN 17665:2022+A1:2023, Packaging – Test methods and requirements to demonstrate that plastic caps and lids remain attached to beverage containers` drafted in support of Directive (EU) 2019/904 (Single-Use Plastic Directive, SUPD) is published in the Official Journal of the European Union on June 1, effective immediately. Compliance with the harmonized standard confers a presumption of conformity with the corresponding essential requirements set out in the SUPD.

EU - Draft Commission Regulation Amending Annex XVII to REACH Regulation Regards D4, D5 & D6
This draft Commission Regulation aims to restrict the placing on the market of D4, D5 and D6 on their own, as a constituent of other substances (but excluding polymers) and in mixtures in other consumer and professional products more generally.

USA - Minnesota Adopted the Lead and Cadmium Restriction for a Group of Consumer Products
Minnesota adopted the lead and cadmium restriction for a group of consumer products, effective January 1, 2024. The covered products listed below shall not contain more than 90 ppm of lead and/or 75 ppm of cadmium.

EU - Reflection of the new Classification of CMR Substances in REACH Regulation
Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/692 released in May last year amending the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (the EU CLP Regulation) by introducing new harmonized classification and labelling of certain substances, including carcinogenic, mutagenic or reproductive toxicant (CMR) substances.
As the new classification of substances in CLP Regulation will apply from December 1, 2023, the restriction introduced into the REACH Regulation will also be applied on the same day.
